is it what we contribute?
the crosses that we bear?

a simple observation: we hunger to survive
is it the joy of living?
or fear of what lies on the other side?

every day is precious, but life somehow is cheap
a cracked and crumbling construct we labor to maintain

we prize our love and courage
pass judgment on the weak
is it the joy of living?
or fear of something we all know inside?

i don't believe in fairness
